Blackberries 2

The blackberries are infusing in ..... spiced rum! I debated between the rum, vodka or brandy and after eating a few berries and smelling the rum, well......you know what came next. So after a month we should have a fruity spicey rum that is a beautiful color....and probably splendid with club soda. More later.

Blackberries

AJ and I picked blackberries today in a wide open field near M&M house. I plan to make cordial (liquer) with Absolut vodka and possibly Brandy to try the difference. We will definitely have to go back out and pick more since the field is full but the heat index is unreal. I want enough to even make blackberry jam.

Tribute to Patrice Andersen

While in Alabama last week, I learned that my beloved friend lost her battle with ovarian cancer on May 28, 2009. My heart sank as contact had slipped away over the last few years due to respecting privacy.
Now that Patrice has passed this life, I sit and ponder the influence and mark she left on me and my life. She inspired me to become a formulator, to have faith in what I knew and could learn, opened my eyes to new adventures and the world of good skin care - and wanting to provide the best I could. Research, formulate, research, formulate.
Before Patrice passed, she had dreams, big dreams, attainable dreams - but her mortal body failed before seeing the fruition. I will tell you that her dreams are very much alive and realized in everyone she touched.
So I wish to pay tribute to a wondeful woman and friend - may you run with the wolves wherever you are!

Patrice Andersen was the owner of http://www.elixirbotanicals.com/.

Trish and Shelly "mudding"

June 11-14, 2009 - Shelly and I traveled to Prattville AL for the Alabama Soap Meeting for the first time. This was their 11th year and had over 100 attendees. We had a wonderful time, met new folks, good to see old friends, participated in swaps, shopped with vendors and were refreshed of crafting ideas. We attended a mud party with the mud queen herself so here we are with our facials. It was a nice getaway.

AJ receives 1st Class rank in Boy Scouts

AJ received his 1st Class rank in Boy Scouts last Sunday evening. He is excited to be moving forward and also towards camp in Virginia in July (me too). Two more ranks to work on, Star and Life, and then lots of thought into his Eagle project.
